SFI Staff Child Protection Course 1
As adults, we want to protect our children from sexual abuse and exploitation, offline and online. We need to fully understand the issue and have the skills and confidence to address it with children.
What are the risks?
Sexual abuse and exploitation of children is a global issue, existing in both developed and developing countries. Violence against children is rooted in cultural, economic, and social practices. Globally, around 1 billion children aged 2–17 years old have experienced emotional, physical, or sexual violence. With the ever-increasing use of the internet and other forms of information and communication technology, sexual violence is recorded and distributed online, adding another complicated dimension to the problem of child abuse.
