Victim Blaming

Victim blaming occurs whenever someone says or implies that a sexual assault was the victim’s fault. Sometimes, people do this to help themselves feel better. They feel safer if they can imagine that the victims did something wrong.

Prevalence of Sexual Violence

Sexual violence is far more prevalent in most societies than is usually suspected in daily life. Research suggests that globally 39-59% of women, 26% of men, and 36% of children have experienced some form of sexual violence in their lifetime.
